Hello my name is Anthony and I have a Netflix problem. (HELLO ANTHONY!) I should have known having movies delivered to my home would be trouble but I never realized it would dominate every waking hour the way it has. Yes – I have a problem.
My original plan was to write a review on every movie we watched – kind of a public service on what you should see and what you should pass on (everyone is a critic). I got too busy watching movies and forgot to do this so now I am playing catch up. Here are the last eight movies we watched they include two to see, two to consider, two to consider passing on and two to forget. Yes – just call me the Noah of Netflix – I’m pairing these up for your convenience.
Two to See
Zombieland and The Invention of Lying. Zombieland is a little more action oriented but both are smart and fun. Definitely worth having in the queue and giving a high enough number where they will actually show up at your house.
Two to Consider
Four Christmases and G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. Vince Vaughn has jumped the shark and all his characters are Vince Vaughn and shouldn’t be funny. It is still funny. G.I. Joe – you would expect this movie to be worse than Transformers 2 but it wasn’t. Actually both are worth seeing but not if you have anything else to do. If you do you’ll feel like you wasted your time.
Two to Consider Passing On
Serenity and Transformers: Rise of the Fallen. From what I understand Serenity was a movie that came from the Firefly television show on the SciFi network. I don’t know – I’m not even that geeky. Maybe if you watched that show and liked it they wouldn’t have canceled it. Maybe if they hadn’t canceled it they would have never made the movie. Maybe that would have been better. Transformers was bad but not as bad as I had heard. In all honesty if you took the time to add a script that movie might have been reasonably alright. I still have a problem with alien robots trying to be friends with humans. Why should they care? If I made this movie it would be two solid hours of robots kicking robot ass – I wouldn’t even bother casting Megan Fox’s character unless she was going to get stepped on. I do like the sound of the robots transforming and loved hearing that in surround sound. The explosions were less impressive than the first movie but not bad.
Two to Forget
Funny People and The Curious Case of Yawn. Funny People wasn’t. I’m not sure if it was supposed to be or not. It was like a bad art show where you can’t tell if the artist is serious or tying to prank you. It had a lot of people that can be funny in the movie all of them just made a point not to do it. I know – I reviewed this one before. I just wanted to reiterate what a waste of time it was. And finally the Curious Case of Benjamin Button – this is possibly the worst movie ever. It made no point, it had to purpose, it wasn’t really sad and it wasn’t very funny. I’m convinced that was 166 minutes of my life I will never get back and should have spent doing something more productive like sedatives. If you pretend that you like this movie you should really take some time, step away from the television and re-evaluate the priorities in your life.
And for now – that is all. Fortunately for us all NetFlix will be sending me more movies as quickly as I can watch them and send them back. The queue is to the left so you can see what is coming soon and possibly next. If you see something you like let me know and I might watch it myself. If you have one to warn me about please let me know as well. I’ve wasted too much time on bad movies already.
