    Stormpocalypse – The Day After

DSC_6841 The images here don’t really paint the full picture and if you watch the news you know there are areas in and around Raleigh that were hit worse but here is the damage that was near our house. All of these images were taken within about a 2 mile radius of the house – we went downtown, to Moore Square and drove through the neighborhoods to see the worst of it on South Saunders. (The road was still closed when we left this morning around 10:15 AM both directions.)

I can’t stress enough how fortunate we were in our neighborhood. There are areas on both sides of us that experienced property damage and somehow we dodged the bullet. We lost power for about 12 hours and it didn’t even knock over our potted plants. Hard to reconcile the other damage that was so close when we had little more than an inconvenience.

More pictures after the jump included the closed section of South Saunders.
