    Chimney Rock

dsc_7018  Last weekend I had a chance to visit Chimney Rock State Park.  This was my first time going to the park and I was looking forward to the visit. I was able to do some hiking.  The first trail I hiked was the Hickory Nut Trail.  This was a moderate trail which led to a beautiful waterfall.  It is the largest waterfall east of the Mississippi.  The waterfall may look familiar because it was in the Last of the Mohicans.

After visiting the waterfall, I decided to go up to the very top of Chimney Rock.  On a normal day you can ride an elevator to the top but the elevator is being renovated.  The park is working on Capital Improvements so the only way up is climbing up 26 flights of stairs.  It was worth the walk up to the top.

    The views were spectacular!
