Ok Go is a band with a sense of humor – at least that’s how I see it.  Their music is good – the videos are awesome. (We’ve posted videos from them before – here and here.) The Muppets – what you can say about them? Nothing but great. Together? Well – you tell me. I think it is a pretty good combo.

I am guessing this isn’t random and has something to do with the soon to be released Muppet movie – The Muppets. I know it took them some time but they got really original on the title there.  Wonder if it is a direct remake of the 1979 The Muppet Movie or if it is a sequel to The Great Muppet Caper (1981), The Muppets Take Manhattan (1984), The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992), Muppet Treasure Island (1996), Muppets from Space (1999), It’s a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie (2002) or even The Muppets’ Wizard of Oz (2005)?

To hazard a little speculation to all of the above I have to say a definite – maybe. Enjoy the Ok Go videos and if you happen to know more about the new muppet movie and would like to share feel free. I was too lazy to do any real research and honestly didn’t see the point. The Muppets release date is November 23, 2011 and I think I might have plans that day.

This busy week has been particularly hard on my StumbleUpon addiction. I’ve had to be responsible and not waste every spare moment stumbling the web.

Had to take a break from all of that today. I found this site “Lyrics to  Live By” and thought it was interesting enough to share. The author has taken lyrics from various songs and made them short quotes. The design is great and creates a retro looking poster with the fonts.

Check out the site or get distracted on StumbleUpon.

Both beat working on a Friday afternoon.

I’ve been meaning to do a little looking around on this and post it all week. Strangely I’ve been busier than usual. More real work at the office and more contract work at home. The means less goofing off on the internet and less posting here. It happens. What is Americathon?

In a story told in narrative flashbacks, a young TV consultant is hired by the President of a bankrupt USA to organize a telethon in order to prevent the country from being repossessed by wealthy Native Americans.

I assume in context that makes sense.  Need more?

In the not too distant future, the United States government is virtually bankrupt and in danger of being foreclosed on by a group of Native Americans, now owners of the massive Nike Corporation. A desperate President decides to make a last-ditch effort to save the country… by raising money with a telethon!

Released in 1979 I’m sure they didn’t mean to predict as many things as it appears they might have from the preview.  I would consider watching it but just gave it a quick search on Netflix and it doesn’t appear to be available.

Thanks BobG for the find and if you find something worth sharing shoot it to me. I’m busy but love a good distraction.

So I consider NPR a pretty dull but reliable news source.  Then they tweeted about an article entitled Food On A Plate Shouldn’t Move. As far as I can tell they are serious and backing it up with this video of a headless squid moving on the dinner plate. I was awake enough during biology to understand the explanation of why it happens. That being said I really hope this isn’t a trend because I don’t think I could eat the meal that just danced on the plate.  A little disconnect from my food never hurts.

I know a lot of you have heard my theory on animal images in restaurants. I think seeing the animal you are about to eat hanging on the wall or printed on the menu engages your long lost internal hunter function and makes you feel like you achieved something when the food comes out. Before you write me off as crazy think about the number of nice restaurants where you can see a cow, pig, fish or chicken before you order.  I think there is a little bit of food psychology in there somewhere.

So the next time someone mentions dinner on the move maybe you’ll think about the drive thru at a local McDonald’s or maybe you’ll think about the dancing squid. Either way you are going to need some Tums. If you want to order the squid it is a Japanese dish called odori-don. [LINK]
