Given that a lot of the gifts have been connected yesterday’s Republic Gunship is followed by a Clone Trooper Pilot who might try to fly that little ship. He is inspecting it carefully like a surveillance drone left in Iran. (OUCH)
Clone trooper pilots were special clone troopers bred in the Kamino cloning centers for the purpose of piloting craft of the Grand Army of the Republic and the early Galactic Empire. They first appeared at the Battle of Geonosis, where they flew LAAT/i and LAAT/c gunships (aka the Republic Gunship). [SOURCE]
Not sure that we can identify him based on his uniform like we did Rookie One – then again aren’t all clones essentially the same?
For day 15 we have a Republic Gunship or Low Altitude Assault Transport used during the Clone Wars. Which always sounded a lot cooler than they ended up being.
The Low Altitude Assault Transport (LAAT), also known as the LAAT-series gunship nicknamed “Larties” by some clones, was a gunship series used by the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars. The series was produced by Rothana Heavy Engineering. [SOURCE]
As of today we are into single digits in the countdown. I know – this year’s countdown seems to be taking a while. Maybe that is because I need to do some Christmas shopping. Or – maybe it is because every day we’re getting a technical lesson in Star Wars.
We are now on Day 14 of the Star Wars Lego Advent Calendar and we get a Mouse Droid of MSE Droid.
MSE-series was a popular line of MSE “Mouse” droids. These droids were usually programmed with a single function that varied per assignment. Once they were set on the task, they would do nothing else. [SOURCE]
This seems like a small gift but we have done pretty well so far. Only 10 days away from Santa – time to start behaving.
At first glance you may think this is just R2-D2′s darker cousin but in reality it is R2-Q5 which surprisingly enough was in the originally trilogy and with no surprise at all have a long back story. No he is not an evil R2 – if he was that would just make him cooler.
R2-Q5 was an R2-series astromech droid produced by Industrial Automaton. R2-Q5 had black coverings highlighted by bronze access panels. R2-Q5 was a well-equipped droid, with tools for repairing starships and special, hidden spy devices. He was also one of the few beings aware of IG-88A’s infiltration of the Death Star. [SOURCE]
IG-88A’s infiltration of the Death Star??? I have no idea. I always thought IG-88 was a lame attempt at seeing Tin Man looking action figures.
We are officially halfway through the countdown to Christmas and we have another great gift from the calendar – this is a snowspeeder or technically an Incom T-47 airspeeder. If you thought I was kidding when I said EVERYTHING has a back story you are wrong.
The Incom T-47 airspeeder was an airspeeder that became famous during the Galactic Civil War for its military use by the Alliance to Restore the Republic. [SOURCE]
Speaking of a back story – I have no idea what is going on behind the snowspeeder. None.
