Taking a video from a website and turning it into an MP3 for your iPod used to be a slightly complicated process involving browser plugins and a basic working knowledge of what to do with the file once you had downloaded it. Those days are over thanks to vidtomp3.com. You can now download awesome songs from artists like Joey Linello or cool mash-ups or even real songs from the videos posted on YouTube.
So I’ve read enough about gOS (a Linux Ubuntu variant) to make me wait the three hours it takes to download the DVD to install it. Yes – I am still a Fedora fan and use it a lot and no this doesn’t mean I am planning on changing the machine I use. I am still in search of the lightweight OS that I can install on older machines that is extremely user friendly. Fedora is a little intimidating for non-geeks so I am interested to see what gOs has to offer. I’ll install it tonight and test it and write a short comparative analysis of it vs. Fedora. I’ll also try to get Cara to use it and see how she likes it for the non-technical opinion. More to come…
From Lego to Play Dough to excited little kids the greatest story ever told has been retold many times. No not the Christmas story – Star Wars. This week’s Internet Oddity is from Wired Magazine and has the best remakes on the web of one of the best movies ever made. I’ve included my personal favorite done in Lego after the jump.
BobG is regularly sending me cool emails loaded with internet oddities. To that end I am going to start a little feature here “BobG’s Internet Oddity of the Week.” This week we have a mix-up of two great movies that cross audio and video nicely. No spoilers besides the picture to the left – hit the jump and enjoy.
I’ve been using the Beta RC3 of Firefox 3 that came with the Fedora 9 installation and so far I really like it. Yes – FF2 is a massive improvement over IE anything and FF3 is even better. If you haven’t tried Firefox you should and if you like 2 you should definitely upgrade. Simple enough. Be part of a world record and download it today! And check this out – Power User Guide from Lifehacker.com.
