We are officially halfway through the countdown to Christmas and we have another great gift from the calendar – this is a snowspeeder or technically an Incom T-47 airspeeder. If you thought I was kidding when I said EVERYTHING has a back story you are wrong.

The Incom T-47 airspeeder was an airspeeder that became famous during the Galactic Civil War for its military use by the Alliance to Restore the Republic. [SOURCE]

Speaking of a back story – I have no idea what is going on behind the snowspeeder. None.

We haven’t had anything from the Star Wars prequels in a while so maybe this Battle Droid Pilot isn’t the end of the world. Honestly – the concept of a robot army is pretty awesome if it is more Terminator and less slapstick which is what these guys were in several places. I know the point was to demonstrate the need for a “clone” army or slightly better technology but it was kinda lame. Robots should be cold emotionless warriors not thinking machines and definitely not feeling machines. (See my issues with Transformers movie.)

The OOM pilot battle droid was a OOM-series battle droid in the Trade Federation Droid Army and, later, the Separatist Droid Army for the purpose of piloting vehicles of various kinds.

So not a bad pick for day 11 but not a great one either. We are under the two week mark before Santa gets here. It is almost time to start shopping.

Another day – another good toy on our countdown to Christmas. Today is an Imperial Shuttle.

The Lambda-class T-4a shuttle was a standard light utility craft in common use throughout the Imperial military as a transport for troops and high-ranking individuals.

Rookie One is giving us a hand displaying the shuttle so you can see the wings extended. This little guy will look great beside the full-size model after Christmas.

It the continued theme of getting a minifig and having a gift appear for them the next day we have a mini X-Wing.

Possessing deflector shields, a hyperdrive, an R2 astromech for repairs and navigation, and a complement of proton torpedoes, the X-wing allowed the Rebellion to launch raids in Imperial space with improved odds of a successful mission.

Let me translate – you want one of these if you have a Death Star to kill. In a word like Samuel L. Jackson “this mofo is bada$$.” Or as Lando Calrissian might say “Drink Colt 45″ – how do you think he bought Cloud City? Pimpin’ ain’t easy. Wait…  isn’t this an Advent Calendar? Better clean up my act. There are only 15 days did Santa is here.

More good news on the Advent Calendar front and this time it is a Rebel Pilot. I am assuming – based at least on his helmet that he is rookie perhaps Rookie One?

“Rookie One” was the handle of a Human pilot who fought for the Alliance to Restore the Republic during the Galactic Civil War; it was used to refer to him during his training prior to the Battle of Yavin, but stuck as a nickname later, typically used instead of his actual name.

Wait – you didn’t know every character in Star Wars had an unbelievably extensive background story? Yes – and it gets a little obnoxious. At least we are staying on a really good run of cool presents – hopefully we stay away from any more Clone War nonsense.
