Another day of not having to guess – the primary wiki source of Star Wars information was named after him (Wookieepedia).
Chewbacca (or “Chewie”, as he was known by his friends) was a legendary Wookiee from Kashyyyk and co-pilot of Han Solo’s ship, the Millennium Falcon.
I am assuming if you waste your time here you probably said that when you opened the page. If not – you are here – there is still hope for you.
I don’t know if Chewbacca is anyone’s favorite Star War’s character but I think it is a safe bet he is in everyone’s Top 5. If not you need to do some soul-searching. We are counting down to Christmas and you better get your priorities in order.
Finally – something I recognized out of the box. There was really no need to go to Wookieepedia to determine what this guy was. If you don’t immediately recognize it in mini form you should probably sit down and watch the original trilogy again – twice.
Slave I was a modified prototype Firespray-31-class patrol and attack craft used by famed bounty hunters Jango Fett and his cloned “son”, Boba Fett. It was greatly modified with advanced weapons systems by both Fetts during their respective use.
So things are finally starting to turn the corner and it is beginning to look a little more like a successful Advent Calendar run. Let’s do what we can to keep this up. Funny – when I was listing items I wanted from the calendar I forgot all about Slave I – which is strange I have several larger models of the ship in my Lego collection.
Today’s gift was a OG-9 homing spider droid and if you are guessing I didn’t know that when I started putting it together you are 100% correct. I am 4 for 4 on having to look up what the gifts are on Wookieepedia.
The OG-9 homing spider droid, sometimes referred to as the spider walker, was a droid walker manufactured for anti-vehicular combat by the Commerce Guild before and during the Clone Wars.
So I guess I saw these in one of the movies and I am assuming that since it wasn’t an X-Wing, Tie-Fighter or AT-AT walker I ignored it. I would do the same now but I think we are headed somewhere on this journey to Christmas. Nute Gunray is enjoying his mecho-chair so while I may be feeling a little shafted he is having a good time. Guess that is something.
I put this together and found myself asking – WTF? (Why The Face) I had no idea what this was or why it had anything to do with Christmas or even Star Wars. A little of research led me to believe it is in fact a Mecho-chair for Nute Gunray. And that means day three is actually a gift for the day two gift. Glad he didn’t have to wait long.
The devices, generally built by Affodies Crafthouse of Pure Neimoidia, were prohibitively costly and were more of a status symbol than a mode of transportation. They featured two sickle-shaped rear legs that terminated in single-claw feet, and a pair of articulated double-clawed guidance limbs.
So things aren’t getting better in the Star Wars Lego Advent Calendar world. So far Nute Gunray is the grinch and we need a Tie-fighter, X-wing, or Millennium Falcon just to break even.
Welcome to day 2 of the Advent Calendar countdown and if the Republic Cruiser didn’t get you into the Christmas spirit maybe a Nute Gunray mini-figure will. Or maybe not.
Nute Gunray was a Neimoidian from the planet Neimoidia. Following a stint as Minister for the Trade Federation, he rose in power after the Stark Hyperspace War in 44 BBY, eventually becoming Viceroy of the Trade Federation. In 32 BBY, Gunray participated in the occupation of Naboo to settle a trade dispute that began in the Galactic Senate.
If that doesn’t say Merry Christmas what does? I didn’t expect Ewoks riding reindeer (ok – I did) but this seems like we are off to a slower than usual start. That being said the weekend is coming and we have 22 more gifts to open. Maybe things will get better.
