Can Raleigh, NC be mistaken for Hollywood, CA? Not usually but today was an unusual day. One of our camera happy conspirators (CaraDMc) happened to be downtown and caught a few pictures of the filming of Arthur Newman, Golf Pro. The movie slated for release in 2013 stars Colin Firth and Emily Blunt and has a long description from IMDB -
Wallace Avery hates his job. His ex-wife and son hate him, and he’s blown his one shot at living his dream. Not wanting to face all this, he stages his own death and buys himself a new identity as Arthur Newman. However, Arthur’s road trip towards anew life is interrupted by the arrival of the beautiful but fragile Mike, who is also trying to leave her past behind. Drawn to one another, these two damaged souls begin to connect as they break into empty homes and take on the identities of the absent owners: elderly newlyweds, a high-roller and his Russian lady, among others. Through this process, Arthur and Mike discover that what they love most about each other are the identities they left at home, and their real journey, that of healing, begins. [SOURCE]
I know – it isn’t Star Wars and probably won’t score well on the Caddyshack scale but at least part of it was filmed downtown with the N&O posing as a slightly less than fictional Terre Haute Police Department. If you look through Cara’s pictures you’ll see what might be a Colin Firth and what probably is an Emily Blunt but no promises. She was lucky to get as good of images as she did. I don’t think anyone was excited about having a movie made of their movie if you get my drift. If you happened to get closer and perhaps caught more feel free to drop those images in the User Gallery and let me know.
More pictures after the jump…
So this is pretty much me around the house all the time. Maybe I need to get a Volkswagon or trade my Vader helmet for something a little more rustic – maybe a little Viking?
Anyway – great commercial.
We’ve had a lot of sports talk over the past couple of weeks. Looks like we may need this…
Regis Philbin is retiring from his morning show after 28 years. I’ll confess that I’m at work most days and haven’t watched a complete episode of Live with Regis and whats-er-name ever but I would still like to take over for him when he leaves. (Don’t ask about watching SportsCenter because that might be a different story for a different time. Slingbox rules!)
So I’ve started a short list to update my resume and get my name in the running for his position. Feel free to help me add to this list because if I get that job I can promise I’ll do even more for the visitors of this site than if the people that say the world is ending May 21, 2011 were to give me all of their belongings to give away. Which is still a good idea if you all are reading this and haven’t changed the date.
Reasons why I should be the next Regis…
So there is my start – again feel free to add to the list and when I get my audition you can come and pretend to be my studio audience. This could be the end of one great career and the beginning of another.
P.S. – That is a picture of Regis with a cat and well… we already know Randy is ready for action.
To be honest I really have no desire to see Yogi Bear – even in 3D. Even if I was watching in a bear cave. Even if the bears had beer. Even if the bears with beer were actually supermodels. I just value my time too much to waste it on this. That being said – this ending shows promise.
Yes – I post too many YouTube videos. I should take time and actually write something. I know.
