From Lego to Play Dough to excited little kids the greatest story ever told has been retold many times. No not the Christmas story - Star Wars. This week’s Internet Oddity is from Wired Magazine and has the best remakes on the web of one of the best movies ever made. I’ve included my personal favorite done in Lego after the jump.
When I first reported on Facebook I think I was a bit jaded and tremendously underwhelmed. My opinion hasn’t changed. It is an excellent time waster and not bad for catching up with people but I haven’t really seen the overall utility involved with it. I would encourage you to create an account and play around. Join the Joseph Linello Fan Club or help us decide Which G is the better G? or add me and I will send you Legos for days (yeah - I hear you - it was annoying but I had to “level up” and the only way to do it was to send more and more to everyone). I’ll probably hang around on Facebook for a while longer but contrary to what was posted on my wall I am not addicted. I might be if I add the Star Wars Figure application but at the moment I am not in need of an Intervention. Not yet anyway.
It is almost college football season and all the glory and pageantry that comes with the fall. Here is all you need to know - the preseason polls are useless, Clemson will fold like a chair, UNC will be over-hyped, NCSU fans will be mad, Duke fans will be happy, and most importantly someone at some time might get called for this penalty. That’s right - he was “giving him the business.” Awesome call.
I’ve always wondered what it must have been like to see the original Star Wars on its first run on the big screen. I was three at the time so being a part of something big and new probably meant riding my big wheel and not enjoying the landmark cinema of my day. I know The Dark Knight has had all the hype that Star Wars didn’t enjoy and honestly - I walked in the door expecting to be entertained but oddly let down by the experience as a whole.
So many movies I’ve wanted to be great have done that to me lately - I’ve just started to expect it. I expected to see Jar Jar Binks or an over cgi’d Indiana Jones chase scene. If Robin had bounced on the set in tights I wouldn’t have been surprised at all. Fortunately this movie did what few of late have - it honestly made an effort and a damn good one.
BobG is regularly sending me cool emails loaded with internet oddities. To that end I am going to start a little feature here “BobG’s Internet Oddity of the Week.” This week we have a mix-up of two great movies that cross audio and video nicely. No spoilers besides the picture to the left - hit the jump and enjoy.
