Yesterday and the day before we had something rare happen here at NOSVC – we had visitors. A lot of them.
We average somewhere around 35-75 visitors daily and that routinely amazes me. Friday we broke an internal record by passing 250 in a day for the first time. Yesterday we had passed that by 9AM and by noon had passed 500 visitors. Once all visits were counted we hit 1,075 visitors recorded in one day.
Looking into why – most of the traffic was coming in two ways on one image from Google – here and here. From there they looked at Hurricane Irene from Space, Hurricane Irene from Earth and Tasty Beverage Company Opening Soon.
So if you stopped by yesterday you were part of the record crowd. If not you are helping make August a big month by reading this today.
Either way – thanks for stopping by – I am constantly amazed by the traffic that comes to this site and hope you find something here worth your time.
A Prius is a gas/electric hybrid that can roll off the lot costing somewhere between $23k-33k and achieving 51-48MPG fuel efficiency. Generally one would assume that someone who drives a vehicle of this nature as intelligent and aware of the world around them. Then they park under one of the few trees on the street during a storm.
Not like there wasn’t plenty of room to park on the street not under a tree.
Should the tree decide to fall on the car we’ll provide a live breaking news report.
Just got this image in of Hurricane Irene coming through South Carolina (click to enlarge) from the sister-in-law by the sea. If you have an image you’d like to share email it to us.
The wind is blowing and the rain is coming down but we seem to be missing the worst of it here it Raleigh. Let’s hope our luck holds. There have been power outages reported in the area but nothing terrible – yet.
This is a live video feed from HurricaneTrack.com. They are currently in Kill Devil Hills, NC and plan on being in that general OBX area throughout the storm.
We’ve updated our own gallery of Hurricane Irene photos but our man on the scene is coming home for some reason. Sounds like a fun trip to the beach to me – how about you?
We’ll be checking in on HurricaneTrack and see what they are reporting for the rest of the storm.
We’ve seen Irene from space and we’ve take a look at her path coming into North Carolina but what do things look like on the ground? Lucky for us (and perhaps unlucky for him) our camera phone welding co-conspirator BobG is in surveillance mode on the coast of North Carolina. Actually he is there for work and is keeping me up to date with the latest info on the ground. More pictures after the jump.
I’ll keep adding to this gallery as BobG sends more pictures so feel free to check back and see what the evacuation and eventually the storm looks like. If you have pictures of storm damage feel free to send them along as well.
