The Office (Wedding Dance)

News & Updates

Tonight’s episode of The Office was the worst kind of rerun – a clip show. You know where they take a bunch of clips from shows and add about five minutes of new content. Overall the show is kinda useless but not terrible.

It would have been better if they had just played the clip to the right.  I know this is the copy of some other YouTube video but the office is a copy of some other sitcom so it works on a lot of levels.

Enjoy.

We tried to sell the float concept on eBay and had no takers so we decided to ask the maker of our favorite St. Patrick’s Day drink to be our sponsor or at least finance the creative process.

Dear Guinness,

We love Guinness. You make Guinness. Therefore, we are a match made in Heaven.

Raleigh, North Carolina, will hold its annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade on March 13th this year (yes, we know, it’s not the REAL day, but hey – it’s the weekend…)

Our group, a loose collection of kickball players and website designers, has a float in the parade each year, and we try to be completely original and creative with our float ideas. One year we built a boat and paraded as Gilligan’s Island. Another year we were Cheers, the TV show (we built a bar! How cool is THAT?).

Here are some pictures:
Cheers! 2009
Gilligan’s Island 2008

This year, the parade organizers will charge $35 per float for the honor of parading the streets and throwing candy to the children of The Oak City. While not a huge fee, this has us thinking of other creative ways to have a float this year.

Our theme this year… “Space Ireland”… a tribute to NASA, Ireland, and the fact that Ireland has no astronauts. This is where we feel Ireland is completely misunderstood and under-represented.

Of course, the float theme is still in negotiations, and if Guinness were to, say… decide to sponsor us somehow, we would be MORE than willing to have a completely kick-ass Guinness-themed float to show to the world. Or just Raleigh.

If you don’t want to donate big money, we understand. But a few cases to inspire creativity would be appreciated. Please let us know what you think.

rssI am currently looking for people who use Google Reader as their feed reader of choice that are willing to share some of their favorite finds here on NOSVC.  [Example] I know it sounds like work but it isn’t. All you have to do is a) use Google Reader to read RSS feeds from your favorite websites and blogs b) share what you like or find particularly useful (with or without comments) using the share button c) set your account to public and email me your RSS feed.

If you are interested and haven’t seen the feed you generate when you share items you can locate it in Reader by going to “Shared items” on the left (under Your Stuff) and the selecting “show details” on the right side of the page.  The feed link should look like this – click here.

Once you email me the RSS feed I will connect you to NOSVC and more people can see what you are reading.  I’ve found the people I’m Following so far on reader to be extremely fascinating.  It is great to see news what news and tidbits other people read and find interesting.  I think other people may find your news interesting too.

Let me know if you are game.

UPDATE: Thanks to Lisa J. and Tokyo Mama (aka Cara D.) for volunteering their feeds.  I’ve called the category RSS Picks but that can’t be the best name.  If you think of a better title post it.  I’m not sold on this one.  Also – working on making the feeds show up better here.  I’d like to make the images work correctly – we’ll see if there is anything I can do.  If you want to add your feed just post it here or email it to me and I will add you.

New music listings from RDU Music Listings are posted.  Unfortunately great music like the group above appear to be missing from the list.  Thanks BobG for pointing me to this timeless classic performed by someone who may in fact be more tone deaf than I am.  More goodies after the jump.
