We reported on the Finnish movie Rare Exports at the beginning of December in the post We have SANTA CLAUS. At the time I didn’t know much about the movie. Today – with holiday down time I decided to do a little research. Still no idea where I can see it but I was able to find it on IMDB and save it to Netflix for whenever it comes to DVD. Here is the description:
Director Jalmari Helander expands his award-winning shorts for this unusual Christmas story set in the frozen beauty of Finland, where local reindeer herders race against the clock to capture an ancient evil: Santa Claus. Single father Rauno and his young son, Pietari, are caught up in the chaos as international scientists dig for artifacts. What they find endangers the entire village.
It didn’t take long to find the shorts on YouTube and I’ve posted them after the jump. They are NSFW and probably not safe for kids or anyone expecting a fat man in a red suit to climb down their chimney in 12 hours or so. That being said – it definitely makes me want to find this movie in a theater. Looks like it could be the best Christmas movie since Die Hard.
If you are looking for a location update on the real Santa Claus go here.
This is my 500th post since I got the site up and running. I know – that isn’t much for a lot of blogs and if you look at my post frequency it isn’t a huge achievement. It is a milestone and I want to celebrate it a little. This site has reported from a lot of places on a lot of things and shared a lot of internet oddities and Lego bricks over those posts. I hope that there will be more of the same over the next 500 posts.
NOSVC.com was a vague concept when I registered the domain in December 2007. By the site launch on March 1, 2008 I still wasn’t sure what I was doing or where things would go. (Don’t tell anyone – I’m still not sure.) Leaving ARTMUSIClife.com and rebooting everything here wasn’t easy but it was time. The concepts driving AML were moving to other larger places and my goals were starting to move as well. When that time comes – regardless of how or why – it is time to make a change. This site is still ultimately my sand box – a place where I can play, post what I like and have my own opinions both on web design and the rest of the world. I know it isn’t a highly visited site but I really appreciate the visitors I have and really appreciate the people that comment. I built this little world on the far edge of cyberspace for me and hoped that others would find it fun or at least mildly amusing too. Glad to see that some people do.
So thanks to the anonymous and sometimes not so anonymous folks that visit here – I’m looking forward to the next 500 posts and hopefully hearing more from you along the way.
I know – I should have expected it sooner. I am usually somewhere near the the prank if not a part of it when it happens to others – especially in the office. So here we are a tour of my own personal “Winter Wonderland.” I am actually quite proud of their work. Everything was wrapped in toilet paper. Great job. More pictures after the jump with pictures of my assailants should you want to take out revenge on them as well. After the multiple Billy Bassings and Black Santa appearances I guess I was due but that won’t keep me from getting them back – trust me.

Yes – that is who you think it is. He is hanging out in the office this Christmas because it was a little too windy outside. You should have seen my colleague who found him sitting at her desk when she came in this morning. All we can say is Ho! Ho! Ho! A picture of the surprised office dweller with Santa after the jump.

Yes – it is snowing in Raleigh, NC before Christmas.
