Bob Dylan – for some reason it just seems right this morning.
Come gather ’round people
Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters
Around you have grown
And accept it that soon
You’ll be drenched to the bone.
If your time to you
Is worth savin’
Then you better start swimmin’
Or you’ll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin’.
I know – since Snow Watch III the posting has slowed down a good bit. That is typically a result of things going at light speed in other areas and this time is no different. I’ve been installing Windows 7 on all my machines (work and home) and am happy to report that I like it. It is a huge improvement from Vista and even makes my XP machine run better than it was. A couple of small things aren’t working as a result of the upgrade but they were near useless additions anyway (my TV tuner card isn’t working properly).
I upgraded the phone against the advice of almost everyone I know to an Android instead of an iPhone. So far it is great – I’ve spent every waking hour since I got it figuring out new and different things to do with it. From what I can tell it does everything I would want an iPhone to do and it came with a shockingly smaller price tag both for the device and the service. I’ll keep you posted on whether or not I still feel strongly about it after the new wears off. I’m interested in how you use your smart phone – I am working on making this site “Touch” compatible. It should work for iPhone and Droid users now – trying to figure out how to make it work for Blackberry users as well.
Finally – I am in the planning stages for what might be the most awesome St. Patrick’s Day float EVER. I know last year’s Cheers float will be hard to beat but Space Ireland and the Shamrocket are extremely promising. I’ll hopefully be posting new images as they become available of the work. Shout out to BobG for making a historic find and getting a lot of what will become the structure of the rocket. This one is not going to be one to miss. More posts coming soon – including an official write-up on Windows 7 and the droid. Stay tuned.
Really? Again? Yes – again
SNOW!!!
More bread and milk it is!
Once again the weather report is grim and snow is imminent or so they want you to believe. Here is the infamous snow cam up for another round.
You may remember the snow cam from such relevant films as the last three time it didn’t snow. This time we may fare better. It appears that there is already a little snow here. Have fun – check back often we’ll be running the snow cam all night.
If you have suggestions of things to do in the snow post them here. If you want to get on TV go here and post something.
TWC is offering free calls to Haiti from your TWC digital phone and are backing the offer to the day of the earthquake. I was kinda surprised to find this somewhat “hidden” in the news. I mean for all the crap TWC gets for raising rates and nearly mugging their customers this is pretty cool of them.
Time Warner announced yesterday that digital phone customers will be able to make calls for free to the island of Haiti through February. The program will be retroactive to Jan. 12. Calls to both landline and cellular telephones are included in this program.
According to Time Warner: Customers who are making calls to Haiti during the eligible period do not need to make any changes in order to take advantage of this program. The program will cover any Time Warner Cable Digital Phone subscriber. For customers who have received bills before the implementation of the program, Time Warner Cable will issue credits to their accounts, with no need to call a customer service representative. Time Warner Cable estimates that the program will provide $200,000 worth of relief to affected customers. This program is for direct dial calls. Calls to operators or directory assistance will continue to be charged at the usual rate.
I hate to say it but I wonder how long it will be before we get another rate increase to cover this.
