Hail to thee, our Alma Mater – Faithful, kind, and true; – Every son and every daughter – Offers praise to you.
Hail to the dearest spot of all; – Hail to WCU! – Light and life and fond devotion – All to thee are due.
Purple robes and colors golden, – Streaming everywhere, – Swell our hearts with pride for olden – Days and friendships dear.
Under shade trees’ friendly bowers, – Voices, ever gay, – Mingles with breath of flowers – And the song birds’ lay.
Shout aloud with one loud chorus, – Voices clear and true, – Lifted high in praise and honor, – All for WCU!
Well… another Western Carolina Football game and honestly – do we walk away talking about the score? Of course not. We do walk away sizing up the competition. In my opinion – they looked good on the field and the fans were friendly if not respectable where we encountered them. At least after they were up by a reasonable margin they were willing to share their beer. More pics after the jump – overall – not a bad tailgate. We scored first. The folks in the stand that went to Marshall? It was 1992 and we owned you.
This post marks the 400th since April 22, 2004. I thought about making a separate post for the occasion but that seemed a little over the top. If I am not averaging a post a week since I started moving things over from AML I’d say I’m blogging a little slow. I’m still trying to get here more often but typically I have a lot going on. The goal now? To hit 500 by the end of the year with as little padding as possible. May the blogging begin.
Granted – I wouldn’t really call myself a Kiss fan but when you get tickets for the right price to see a legendary group – you go. I learned a lot while I was there – namely that I knew more Kiss songs than I thought. Kiss fans as a group are cool people – everyone we asked was more than happy to let us take a picture of or with them. And – what Kiss lacks in talent they more than make up for in spectacle.
We were fortunate to not just get tickets at a price that made it impossible not to go – we also got upgraded to seats before we really got in position on the lawn. It went from awesome to unreal as we got closer to the stage. Overall it was a great show – possibly the best I’ve seen in a while if not ever.
The pics are after the jump – between KT and I we took over 400. After I took out the redundant ones, the blurry ones and the ones that just couldn’t be shared we had about 140 or so. And yes… Kiss rocks. Not only would I go again – I’d probably shell out more money to go.
To stupidity and beyond. My only hope is that being a viking prevents me from being abducted by aliens this year. Yes there is a probably a story behind this one and yes – you’ll have to ask one of the members of the RV crew to hear it. Want to make your own cool Toy Story comic? Go here. When you are done come back and upload them to the site here.
Last week we headed to the “motherland” of Southwest Virginia (yes – that is where my mom is from) for a few days of rest, relaxation and fun with some friends. Had a great time in Abingdon, ate well at Shatley Springs and started on an awesome adventure on the New River. Unfortunately the rain decided to make the canoe trip a little less than desirable. We survived and plan to go on the trip next year. We may or may not canoe again but we’re definitely up for a campfire and hanging out on the river.
Thanks again to Nick & Amy who planned the camping/canoe expedition. Also – thanks to everyone for only giving us a little grief for packing up and heading out the second night. The “motherland” happened to have a parent’s house in it with a hot shower, warm meal and dry bed. We thought about stay – for a minute – and decided you all would really want us to take advantage of the warm and dry environment.
There I am geeking out at the Star Wars Concert last night at the RBC Center. A concert showcasing the Oscar winning music of John Williams named the “Greatest Film Score of All Time” by the American Film Institute (Click here for 18 other things you don’t know about Star Wars).
It was an awesome show – could have done with a little less chatter from Anthony Daniels (the voice of C-3PO) but couldn’t we say that about all the Star Wars movies? (And might be saying that soon about a “Untitled Star Wars TV Series” – but who knows?) That being said the show was great and the props were cool to see. Pictures of the props and pieces of the show after the jump. The images are blurry because the light is poor, the cool stuff was behind glass and the show was more about sound than visuals. All that being said I would go again right now if I could.
