    Japanese Tuna Commercial from 1978

    [1]
by Anthony on February 2, 2010 [Tuesday] 1 Comment - Comment Here

There isn’t a lot to be said here except combining Star Wars, the Japanese and Tuna might not be a good idea. Especially if they year is 1978 and you think C3PO is a waiter-bot.

The only way to possible feel good about this is if instead of Tuna they were eating Jar Jar Binks.  That’s right – Jar Jar was part fish maybe he would taste good on a cracker or made into a little salad.

The best part of this is the “wookie” jump done by the most pathetic looking Chewbacca I’ve ever seen.  I don’t think he celebrated that much either time he helped blow up the Death Star.  That’s right – more excited over tuna than destroying the “ultimate weapon”, a space station capable of destroying a planet in a single attack.

That must be some good tuna.

I am starting to hate that I missed Where the Wild Things Are in the theater.  Looks like it was a much better movie than I imagined.

    Alaska Nanooks 2010 Hockey Intro

We’ve had an Alaska Nanooks Hockey Intro on here before and it was awesome. Polar bears blowing stuff up? It doesn’t get much better than that.  Twitter is calling this updated version “the greatest film our species has ever created.”

I am optimistic that the video being created by Sterling and company for the St. Patrick’s Day parade will top this so enjoy but don’t worry about that greatest label being too comfortable.  It isn’t going to stick around for long.

    Apple iPad

So I wasn’t sent a Nexus One to review so it may not be a surprise that I did not get sent an Apple iPad.  I know – I went to the mailbox in the snow to check again today and either stuff is still getting sent to the old address or I am once again being denied the privilege of giving you a really good first hand review.

The best I could do is embed the video to the right of Pee-wee Herman getting a crack at the device and give you my thoughts based on what I’ve read.  In a nutshell the biggest oversight is the inability to multi-task.  From what I am reading you can’t listen to music and read a book at the same time not to mention use any one of the other “apps” like games or maps.  (This may or may not be technically correct since I DIDN’T GET SENT ONE TO REVIEW.)

Other reviews also point out that there is no camera, no USB port, more exclusive AT&T deals, no flash in the browser (nope – you couldn’t watch the video to the right on the iPad), its screen is LED vs. OLED (OLED is brighter and more efficient), and it has a starting price tag of $500 (I’ve read as high as $725).

I know this is being touted as the replacement for the netbook but at this point I don’t think so. Do I want one?  Ummmm…  probably not.    Not saying it isn’t a good product and not saying if something as simple as the multitasking was fixed I wouldn’t reconsider but right now?  I don’t think it is worth it.  I wish it was because to their credit Apple makes some awesome looking devices.  In my very limited experience with the iPhone/iPod Touch the system is pretty solid and things work like you expect them to.  On the upside maybe this new offering will make the iPod Touch drop in price enough to make me reconsider it.

Raleigh Weather Cam: Snow Watch II

Once again the weather report is grim and snow is imminent or so they want you to believe. Here is the infamous snow cam up for another round.

You may remember the snow cam from such relevant films as the last three time it didn’t snow. This time we may fare better. It appears that there is already a little snow here. Have fun – check back often we’ll be running the snow cam all night.

If you have suggestions of things to do in the snow post them here.  If you want to get on TV go here and post something.
