[singlepic id=7291 w=320 h=240 float=right]The premise sounds simple - run from the belltower at NC State to the Krispy Kreme eat a dozen doughnuts and return in under an hour. Approximate distance 5 miles give or take. This isn't the first time we're been to or participated in the challenge and while it is much harder than it sounds - it is likely the most fun race in Raleigh. Congrats to Mark, EdG, Eileen/iLean, BobG 11.75, Zach, Nick, Lisa, Bentley, the rest of the DC crew and anyone else I may have missed that we saw. Special congrats to those runners ...
The Rembrandt in America exhibit at the NC Museum of Art uses the slogan "You know the name. Now find out why." And much in the same way that I had heard of Genghis Khan I could have told you very little about our other museum guest in the city. Namely he may have been French (not true) and he didn't have a Ninja Turtle named after him (this one is true). Rembrandt in America is the largest collection of Rembrandt paintings ever presented in an American exhibition and the first major exhibition to explore in depth the collecting history of ...
[singlepic id=7209 w=320 h=240 float=right]The name Genghis Khan is probably a familiar one even if you don't know who he was exactly. Before going to the exhibit at the NC Museum of Natural Science I had a very vague idea of who Genghis Khan was and something of a concept of who he was historically but knew very little about the role he played in history. Genghis Khan is famous as the ruthless Mongol warlord who conquered half the known world. Under his rule, the Mongol Empire grew to be four times the size of the Roman Empire at its largest ...

Our blackout for SOPA was short and really just facilitated a little time for me to do a quick rewrite of the social media links you see to the left. At least I hope you see them to the left. If not I wasted time trying. (Click one – you know you want to.)
So why did we darken the page today? We like many other sites on the web are against the SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) that could be used against small sites and possibly even big ones by the government and large corporations that don’t like what they see. Basically censorship.
You can see lots of info on the news and you can always use Google to learn more (who did a great job on their doodle today). Our blackout was done in the style of Wikipedia’s one of my favorite resources who did a great job posting links to the various Senators and Representatives (Click here for the Raleigh list).
I hope the blackout got everyone’s attention and you will act accordingly. The more calls / emails / letters that are sent the better the chances are that SOPA will disappear and the Internet can stay a great place to live. We wouldn’t want to see the great sites, creativity and everyone’s favorite at work pass time go dark.
So I am not an avid follower of my Alma mater’s athletic program – sorry Catamounts. I had to find out via DeadSpin that they lit the scoreboard up last night. That being said being and the unapologetic band wagon jumper I am – GO CATAMOUNTS!
And so bad things happened. Western Carolina led 18-0 at one point. They assembled the third-largest margin of victory in NCAA history. They set a school record for points scored and points scored in a half. Nine players scored in double figures, and all Western players played more than ten minutes. They outrebounded Toccoa Falls 62-16. Toccoa Falls turned it over 27 times and shot 28.3 percent from the field.
There will be much rejoicing after this win, from Asheville to Andrews, from Black Mountain to Bryson City. But think of the poor bible college students, won’t you? [SOURCE]
How awesome is that? Can you stop that Cat machine?
Update: More information on the AWESOMENESS.
To be fair we never really visited LMFAO and their hit song “Sexy and I Know It” but that won’t stop us from revisiting them. First off local celebrity / noted father of Evan Rachel Wood (3 names – you know they are good actors) performing a dramatic reading of the song.
Then a video mash-up of our friend He-man and the song.
Why post this? How often do you see a lot of wood and He-man in the same place? Unless you are hanging out with BobG on a Saturday brew tour probably never. Sorry that was “Metalhead” not He-man. Details.
Wiggle?
Unfortunately the transcript is still unavailable – Google can do a lot but there are limits. I guess the memo should read “Next time don’t miss the beer tour.”
I’ll let the guilty party remain anonymous. At least as anonymous as the can remain given their condition. And yes – I did listen to this in STEREO! How awesome.
