    Least I Could Do

The math really adds up on this one - doesn't it?

No – this is not because I am extremely jealous of the people that got invited to the NASA Tweet-up. This is one of my favorite webcomics and I wanted to post it. Nothing at all to do with yet another NASA snub.

That being said if you aren’t following @rtphokie (NOT BobG) you should he is there and tweeting about it right now. Including awesome timelapse videos like this one showing the drive into the Kennedy Space Center.

UPDATE: Resident space enthusiast BobG points out that the date referenced above for the moon landing should be July 20, 1969. He plans to email them and let them know. They may have been referencing when man walked on the moon by accident. [SOURCE] If they answer we’ll post the results.

Space: The final frontier…  something, something, win a trip to space, something, Space Needle. That should be all you need to hear but in case you need something more persuasive click here.

Looking at the details on this one.  Looks like we will all need to sign up for “Space Race 2012″ online. From there 1,000 contestants will be chosen at random to create one-minute videos elaborating on why they should be chosen as a space tourist. (Paging resident videographers – please be on the ready for this one.)  The best of the video entrants will undergo a fitness test before the winner is chosen. Not sure how a Lego version of the Space Needle plays into all of this but for this site it really seemed to make sense.

I really want to get someone associated with NOSVC in at least the final 1,000.  I’d really like to go to space personally but if the other option is to have someone taking pictures are reporting back here that would be awesome as well.  We’ll keep you posted when to apply and even make a guest appearance in your video if you make it further than I do.  Need more info?  View the Space Needle’s Web site or their Facebook page for more details.

To boldly go where no a few man men and women has have gone before. – right?

So I consider NPR a pretty dull but reliable news source.  Then they tweeted about an article entitled Food On A Plate Shouldn’t Move. As far as I can tell they are serious and backing it up with this video of a headless squid moving on the dinner plate. I was awake enough during biology to understand the explanation of why it happens. That being said I really hope this isn’t a trend because I don’t think I could eat the meal that just danced on the plate.  A little disconnect from my food never hurts.

I know a lot of you have heard my theory on animal images in restaurants. I think seeing the animal you are about to eat hanging on the wall or printed on the menu engages your long lost internal hunter function and makes you feel like you achieved something when the food comes out. Before you write me off as crazy think about the number of nice restaurants where you can see a cow, pig, fish or chicken before you order.  I think there is a little bit of food psychology in there somewhere.

So the next time someone mentions dinner on the move maybe you’ll think about the drive thru at a local McDonald’s or maybe you’ll think about the dancing squid. Either way you are going to need some Tums. If you want to order the squid it is a Japanese dish called odori-don. [LINK]

So the image to the right is an example of “cosplay” which I am told is short for costume play.  I guess it is something along the lines of dressing up as a viking for St. Patrick’s Day. Who knew it had a term? Everyone else – probably. We saw a little bit of this at last year’s NC Comicon. (Which I still think is missing a c.)

Anyway – why did I bring this up? Cool video of people dressed up at a different comic convention (London maybe) lip syncing to Raise Your Glass by Pink. I know not terribly relevant to anything else in the world but then again what on this page really is?
