Remember Microsoft Comic Chat? You know - back in 1996 - ran on IRC. Nevermind. Either before your time or before you knew you should pay attention. Anyway - Google has a new Beta called “Lively” and it is Comic Chat on steroids. I am not a huge chat room person but this is cool enough for me to leave open on my screen and see if anyone I know pops by. If you want to stop in and say hi you can do so by clicking here. The image to the left is my avatar - options are very limited in that regard but this ia a beta. If it catches on I’m sure the options will increase. Note: you will need a Google account and will have to download some software to make it work.
Learning Linux is changing to more of a “Geek” blog. Why? Fedora was so easy to install and use I really don’t think there is a lot to write about. So on the Geek run - I saw iGoogle a while back and wrote it off as probably not worth my time. My brother sent me a iGoogle gadget and I changed my mind. I starting using it (www.igoogle.com) and have really enjoyed it. In the process of adding gadgets and having fun I rediscovered another Google program I had written off - the Google Calendar.
The calendar is easy to use and easy to share both with others and with your existing Outlook calendar. Talk about a cool way to keep connected.
In response to this very cool tool I am starting a Raleigh Events calendar. Want to join? Drop me a line and give me the email you want me to send the invite to. You can can see and add events both large and small. Reminder - NOSVC has an international audience (as seen in Kuala lumpur?) and you may not want someone showing up at your place from there. Just as an FYI.
