I know that as soon as I start talking about anything that has to do with politics about 90% of my audience leaves for a week. I get it. You either don’t agree with me or don’t want to involve yourself in anything that isn’t part of a Star Wars Lego battle. For those of you that fit that category – click here. For the rest of you – both of you – keep reading.
Here is some info on TC-07-09 which is coming up in front of Raleigh’s Comprehensive Planning Committee this Wednesday. So other than sounding like a cool name for a Stormtrooper what is TC-07-09? Simply put it is a text change that would provide some guidance/regulation to front yard parking. A common sense update for both the environment and the appearance of single family homes in Raleigh. This means regulations for the size of a driveway and parking pad and the use of said driveway and parking pad. If you are saying to yourself – why don’t we already have something like this – you aren’t alone.
What can you do? First stop off here and learn more. This particular text change is going to impact the Southwest/District D area of Raleigh. (Maybe more if it is seen as effective in this area.) Second go to the Comprehensive Planning Committee Meeting this Wednesday (5PM Council Chambers Agenda) or email the members of the committee and tell them you support TC-07-09. (Councilors Russ Stephenson (chair), Bonner Gaylord, and Randy Stagner.)
Note: The image here is not a car parked in a Raleigh front yard. It is what I found when I Googled “TC-07-09 Stormtrooper.”
From the better late than never category comes this year’s Lego Christmas Village which might technically be last year’s but that is only so 2012 can have a new village.
The delay was partial procrastination and partial waiting for Cara’s Christmas present (a flash for the big camera). She took most of the pictures after the jump with the exception being the last five (she put her toy down and I played with it for a minute). If either one of us improves on using the flash before the village gets dismantled I will post again. From what I have seen so far it may take a while for us to get there. Although I can’t complain – it does pretty good right out of the box.
The village this year includes the Star Wars Nativity, a train (yes – we light rail before certain cities I know), all the recent seasonal sets and a first look at the Lego Superheroes collection starring Wonder Woman, Superman, Bat Man, Cat Woman and Lex Luthor. This year the Nativity scene grew into a larger part of the display with several building representing the city of Bethlehem. This village also showcases a RV park and of course Santa showering.
Yes – this is the “greatest. post. ever.” and possibly one of the great dreams a dreamer could ever have.
Just when I think Facebook is completely jumped the shark this happens and makes it interesting again.
In a word? AWESOME.
Thanks to Travis for the image to the right. Yes – that is supposedly a real campaign in France. No – I don’t know if I would eat a hamburger on a black bun. At the same time I wonder why the Jedi Burger isn’t green for Yoda or at least covered in guacamole.
A little research shows that Quick (the restaurant) is pretty much a French McDonald’s (of Belgian origin) that oddly enough does not salt their fries. “Plus ou moins salés: à vous de décider”
That’s really as far as I can stretch this post. If you happen to be in Belgium, France, Egypt, Algeria, Morocco, United Arab Emirates, Andorra, Luxembourg, Spain, Russia or Armenia where Quick is located drop a Jedi Burger in the mail. Odds are it will look like a Dark Vador Burger by the time it reaches me.
UPDATE: And why exactly is THIS coming out AFTER Christmas? (THX BobG)
